01 Can face oil or face balm clog pores?
When chosen correctly, a high-quality face oil won’t clog your skin — on the contrary, it helps balance the skin and strengthens its natural barrier. An oil's tendency to clog pores is measured by its comedogenic rating, and lightweight, low-comedogenic plant oils are actually a perfect match for combination and blemish-prone skin.
Many who struggle with easily congested skin tend to shy away from facial balms due to their rich, wax-infused textures. However, Golden Velvet Melt is designed differently: it melts onto the skin, leaving a velvety-soft finish without any heavy or suffocating feel.
Its carefully selected ingredients, such as Crambe seed oil and jojoba oil, are proven to suit easily clogged skin. They deeply nourish the skin, effectively lock in moisture, and reinforce the skin's natural protective barrier. Based on my experience, I confidently recommend Golden Velvet Melt even for breakout-prone skin when you are looking for ultimate nourishment and lasting protection.
02 Do I need a moisturizer in addition to face oil and face balm?
No, you don't. Face oils and facial balms provide deep nourishment and lock in moisture, but they are completely waterless. For the best results, always apply them directly onto clean, damp skin right after washing your face.
This allows the oil or balm to trap the water already on your skin, sealing that vital hydration into the skin cells while strengthening the skin barrier. A separate water-based moisturizer is simply not needed when you utilize the moisture from your wash. The facial balm acts as the ultimate protective shield, preventing this hydration from evaporating throughout the day or night.
Tip for very dry skin:
If your skin feels tight or rough, you can layer both waterless products. Apply a few drops of face oil to damp skin first, and follow up with a thin layer of protective facial balm. This combination gives your skin ultimate protection against dryness —without any unnecessary fillers.
03 What skin type is face balm best suited for?
This facial balm is especially suitable for dry, tight, and mature skin that needs more nourishment and protection. It is also excellent when the skin feels thin, rough, or reacts easily to external stressors.
04 Can face oil or face balm be used under makeup?
Yes, you can. A thin layer of a well-absorbing facial oil makes the skin softer and helps makeup apply more evenly.
Facial balm can be used under makeup, especially when the skin is dry or tight. Apply a very small amount of balm and warm it between your fingers first so that it spreads thinly on the skin.
Allow the product to absorb for a moment before applying makeup, so that the foundation settles evenly and does not slide on the skin's surface.
05 What is the difference between face balm and face cream?
The biggest difference comes down to water and potency. Traditional face creams are water-in-oil emulsions, meaning they often consist of up to 70–80% plain water.
A facial balm, on the other hand, is a 100% waterless powerhouse. It is crafted solely from nourishing plant oils, botanical butters, and natural waxes — free from any unnecessary fillers or synthetic preservatives. Because a balm contains no water, it doesn’t just evaporate off your skin. Instead, it creates a breathable protective shield that locks in post-wash hydration and deeply strengthens the skin barrier.
While a standard cream quickly disappears, a balm provides long-lasting protection against environmental stressors like cold weather, wind, and dry indoor air. This makes a facial balm the ultimate final step in your routine, and a perfect match for dry, tight, and mature skin that demands deep nourishment and real protection.
06 What helps dry and tight-feeling skin?
Dry and tight skin often indicates that the skin's protective barrier is weakened and moisture evaporates from the skin too quickly. In this state, standard water-based moisturizers often fall short because they simply evaporate off the skin. Tight skin is actually craving nourishing plant oils and real protection.
The most effective solution is to trap moisture into the skin immediately after washing. Leave your skin noticeably damp after cleansing, and right away, apply a few drops of face oil. This seals the water into your skin and helps restore its natural elasticity.
If your skin is extremely dry or flaky, layer a facial balm on top. It acts as a rich, protective shield that stops moisture from escaping while defending your skin against dry indoor air and harsh weather. By bringing these waterless powerhouses into your routine, your skin will quickly become soft, supple, and deeply comforted.
